Due to the inaugural ceremonies being moved indoors, Drake in DC had to make adjustments. Thanks to the Washington Plaza for helping us pivot to an indoor watch party with games, crafts, and comfort foods.

Drake University students listen to guest speaker Sarah McCammon from NPR. She is the co-host of the NPR Politics Podcast and provided insight on what her day to day life is like at her job.

This picture was taken at the Committee of Agriculture for the House of Representatives where Rep. Zach Nunn sits. It shows the thought process on every decision made for agricultural bills.

This is a picture of me (Miguel) in Sen. John Boozman’s office. Me being from Arkansas, I decided to visit my senators. Unfortunately, Sen. Cotton was gone and so was Sen. Boozman. Luckily I managed to get a tour of Sen. Boozman’s office.

This is a picture from the People’s March. This march was important because it showed how democracy works and how it can influence people to make change

(From left to right) Chloe Gayer and Fran Conner celebrating their birthdays early at “The Smith”. At the beginning of the trip, they found out that they shared the same birthday, and wanted to do something special to celebrate. We both recommend the “brick pressed chicken” dish!

A National Guard vehicle stationed outside of McPherson Square while a small group asks an official why they are there. She explained that while it may look a little jarring at first, this was to ensure the safety of people in D.C. during the inauguration, ensuring a quick response in the unlikely event of an emergency.
