Drake in DC: Collaboration, Engagement, Experience
This intensive two-week experience in Washington, D.C. allows students to
investigate the causes and consequences of legislative “gridlock,” the
“agenda-setting” role of national politicians and news media outlets, the
potential for new collaborative policy outcomes, and the meaning of
“bipartisanship” in a polarized political environment with a new president
and a return to unified government. During our time in D.C., we will
collaboratively engage with individuals across government, nonprofit
advocacy, media, and other policy-making environments to examine the
question of how bipartisan solutions can be identified and
pursued with a new administration in this historic city.
